Ninja III: The Domination is a 1984 Cannon Films production that asks: what if The Exorcist but with ninjas? A ninja is killed by police after massacring a golf course. His spirit possesses a female aerobics instructor. She becomes possessed by his ninja spirit and begins hunting down the cops who killed him. She also has a love interest who is himself a ninja. A Japanese exorcism is eventually required. Breakdancing is involved. Sho Kosugi is in it. This film has no right to be as entertaining as it is.

The Golf Course Massacre

The film opens with an extended sequence of a single ninja killing approximately 30 armed police officers on a golf course. It takes 10 minutes. The ninja is eventually shot dozens of times, crawls to the aerobics instructor, transfers his spirit via a glowing sword, and dies. This is the setup. The film treats this as a completely normal inciting incident. Cannon Films in 1984 was operating on a different plane of reality from the rest of the film industry.

Be kind. Rewind. Watch the golf course.
